The Los Angeles Lakers could strike gold by acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks before the trade season ends.

Antetokounmpo is a game-changing future Hall of Fame forward who continues to dominate despite being a part of an organization that hasn’t progressed well since winning a title in 2021.

On Monday, the 6-foot-11 Lakers trade target made basketball history that’s never been done before in the NBA.

“Giannis now has the most games in NBA history with 20/15/5 in under 30 minutes,” Real App wrote on X/Twitter after Antetokounmpo's 21-point, 17-rebound, and six-assist performance against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.

While landing Antetokounmpo in the next few weeks would be challenging for Los Angeles, it would be foolish to consider it an impossible task.

After all, the Lakers did the unthinkable during last year’s trade season: trade Anthony Davis, a 10-time All-Star and NBA champion, to the Dallas Mavericks for a five-time All-Star and generational point guard in Luka Doncic.

Who’s to say the franchise doesn’t have another blockbuster deal up its sleeve in late January? The Lakers could help jumpstart a potential transaction by using Austin Reaves as an alluring trade chip (he’s averaging a career-best 26.6 points per game this season).

Although the Oklahoma product is dealing with a grade 2 left gastrocnemius strain, he isn’t an injury-prone contributor who can’t be trusted to regularly avoid the injury bug, making him a less risky asset.

It would be interesting to see if the Lakers shock the world with another groundbreaking trade.
