The Los Angeles Lakers will resume playing after three days of rest as they travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Jazz on Dec. 18.

After a shaky NBA Cup run and failing to put together a win streak in December, the Lakers will look to get back on track for their second of four straight games on the road.

Ahead of the matchup, Los Angeles announced that guard Gabe Vincent is dealing with a setback that will result in him missing time.

Gabe Vincent (back) to miss at least one week

Lakers guard Gabe Vincent is dealing with back tightness. The 29-year-old will be re-evaluated in one week, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

It's beginning to look like a constant trend once again for Vincent, as he's already missed 11 games in the 2025-26 season with an ankle sprain.

Although he's already logged more games played than he did during his first year as a Laker in 2023-24, this setback has come at a time when Los Angeles needs reinforcements. The team has also ruled out Deandre Ayton (elbow) and Austin Reaves (calf) for Thursday's game.

Vincent's setback will likely keep him out for the remainder of the Lakers' final three games of their road trip and possibly for their Christmas Day matchup against the Houston Rockets.

Through 14 appearances and six starts this season, Vincent is averaging 4.7 points and 1.4 rebounds on 21.5 minutes per game. His inability to stay on the court could be the reason behind his inconsistent shooting numbers, at 35% from the field and 36.2% from three-point range.
