2025 was a chaotic year for Los Angeles Lakers star point guard Luka Doncic.
In a heartfelt social media post involving the Dallas Mavericks, Doncic recapped the year hours before the start of 2026.
“2025,” Doncic stated in his caption. “A lot happened. Thank you for everything. Happy New Year!”
Doncic’s 10-minute-long X/Twitter video shows Doncic navigating life in Los Angeles after Nico Harrison and the Mavericks foolishly decided to trade him to the Lakers last February.
At the three-minute mark, Doncic can be seen sitting on the bench before his first game back in Dallas and taking it all in.
Considering the trade occurred 11 months ago, Doncic has likely forgiven Harrison and the Mavericks for their horrid, franchise-altering mistake.
After all, Doncic doesn’t have much to complain about entering 2026, as the 26-year-old superstar is enjoying one of the best seasons of his young career (33.5 points, 8.7 assists, and 8.2 rebounds per game) and is in the thick of the competitive MVP race.
Additionally, Doncic hasn’t hesitated to acknowledge that he’s fortunate to learn from and play alongside an incredible basketball player/mind like LeBron James. While James won’t be in the big leagues much longer, there’s no doubt that he’s been a positive influence in Doncic’s short tenure with the Lakers.
In other words, Doncic has embraced his new NBA home and has an exceptionally bright future ahead of him.
