The Los Angeles Lakers signed center Drew Timme to a two-way deal on Tuesday, ESPN's Shams Charania reported.

"The Los Angeles Lakers are signing center Drew Timme to a two-way NBA deal from their South Bay team, agents Deddrick Faison and Rich Gray tell ESPN," Charania wrote in a post on X.

Timme had spent most of the season with the Lakers' G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, where he crossed paths with LeBron James during his rehab stint.

In Timme's first media availability since joining the Lakers, he was asked what it was like practicing with James during their time in South Bay.

"It was pretty crazy, man. Like, I mean, that’s the GOAT. To be able to share the court with him was special, especially being a G League team. That's so outside the normal of everything," Timme said via ESPN's Dave McMenamin.

"I think it just shows how connected the two programs are, and it's super cool. He came down, and it was our job to help him get back to game speed, so we were just glad to help."

The Lakers will hope the rapport Timme built with James during their G League practices will translate to the NBA court.

Los Angeles has been in dire need of some support at the center position, and Timme may be an upgrade over incumbent reserve center Jaxson Hayes.

In nine games with the Brooklyn Nets last season, Timme averaged 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
