The Los Angeles Lakers made three key signings this offseason to play alongside LeBron James and Luka Dončić.

They now have a roster that is set to compete for a championship, and that is much to do with the supporting cast around the two superstars.

However, they can’t just sit around and wait for their players to show up, because LeBron doesn’t have that much time left.

That may be the case for one key piece, as L.A. Sports Hub’s Cem Yolbulan predicts one player not to be on the team next season.

“For a shooter like Knecht, playing next to the three-headed monster of Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves is as good a situation as there can be in the NBA,” Yolbulan said Monday.

“Unfortunately, however, he has not done anything so far to prove that he is up to the challenge. He was a fine shooter as a rookie — 37.6% from downtown — but that is not nearly good enough for a player who does little else on the floor.”

Although Dalton Knecht will just be entering his second year in the league, he was one of the oldest players drafted last season, and is already almost 25 years old.

His role in college was simple, and he was good at it.

LeBron praised him before he was part of the organization, but he hasn’t been able to translate his game just yet.

Now he may face an even harder challenge in a rotation with many more options, and if he can’t prove himself, the Lakers may just have to cut ties with him.
