Outside the Oklahoma City Thunder, no team has gotten off to a better start in the Western Conference than the Los Angeles Lakers.

At 15-4, they currently hold the West's No. 2 seed and boast two MVP candidates in Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, but head coach JJ Redick believes they're just scratching the surface of their potential.

"We should be proud of being 15-4 after nineteen games, that's a great start. There's a lot of slices of pizza left in the box that we can still get after. There's a lot of room for improvement on our team, which, to me, is a positive," Redick said after the Lakers' win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night.

"I use that term a lot on the golf course when there's like a six-foot putt. A lot of people say that's outside the friend zone. I usually say there's a lot of pizza left in that box...not quite finished,"

Despite their successful start, the Lakers know their aspirations this season are much higher than just having a good record.

Los Angeles wants to win a championship, and if they're going to do that, they'll need to improve and become as consistent as the West-leading Thunder.

In years past, LeBron James has had to carry a heavy workload throughout the regular season to get the Lakers to the postseason.

Now, with Doncic and Reaves averaging 35.1 and 28.8 points per game, respectively, he's able to conserve himself for a deep postseason run as far away as that may be.

As Redick plainly stated, there's a lot of work to be done before anyone can crown the Lakers anything, but in the meantime, 15-4 is a great place to start.
