NBA insider confirms Lakers continue to monitor Giannis Antetokounmpo, looking to pair star with Luka Doncic image

Whenever star players become available in the NBA, or even when they’re simply involved in rumors, the Los Angeles Lakers are typically linked to them.

Whether it’s to drive up the price or because the Lakers have a genuine interest, we see it happen all the time.

It’s a bit crazy how often the Lakers are connected to these names, but nobody would have expected the team to trade for Luka Doncic a year ago.

Perhaps Lakers fans have a point when they believe the franchise will eventually land another star.

The latest name to surface is Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. While the Bucks may not be looking to move on from Antetokounmpo, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that teams like the Lakers continue to monitor the situation, even if nothing is pressing at the moment.

“In fact, rival executives interested in trading for Antetokounmpo who’ve spoken with HoopsHype said they don’t believe Milwaukee wants to move him right now. With that said, it’s unlikely to keep teams such as the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, and others from continuing to monitor Antetokounmpo’s situation to varying degrees, looking ahead,” he wrote

Landing Antetokounmpo would give the Lakers one of the best duos in the NBA for a long time, assuming he and Doncic can stay on the court when it matters most.

Antetokounmpo has dealt with his fair share of injuries, but he would still be worth whatever the Lakers would have to give up.
