This week in the NBA, Giannis Antetokounmpo has dominated the headlines. During the summer, it was announced that Antetokounmpo had formally requested a trade, but would let the season play out until things got bad.
Now that Milwaukee is 2-8 over their last 10 games, that trade request was revisited. With news of Antetokounmpo being on the market, it sent the NBA world into a frenzy. He’s been the news cycle this week.
One of the teams that was obviously in the mix was the Los Angeles Lakers.

Just when it seemed like the Giannis news cycle was about to come to a close, the entire basketball world was forced to hold its collective breath as Antetokounmpo went down in the first quarter with a non-contact injury.
When he instantly grabbed his lower calf/Achilles tendon area, people feared the absolute worst. Luckily and thankfully, the Bucks have since reported it as a calf strain, which will hold him out for 2-4 weeks.
When this all happened, a former Laker and champion with the organization took his chance to weigh in on all things Giannis.
Dwight Howard weighs in on all Antetokounmpo news
Last night, shortly after the injury took place, former Lakers center Dwight Howard took to Twitter/X to let Giannis know how how felt and give him some well wishes.
He also added a little side of recruiting in the process.
Aye Giannis don’t go trying to play on that calf strain just take your time and get back right Lake Show need you!

One former Lakers big attempting to recruit the next great Lakers big. Put that on the list of things we love to see.
While there will undoubtedly be more enticing offers around the league than the Lakers will be able to bring to the table, crazier things have happened. I mean, Luka Dončić does don the purple and gold now, so who knows.
