Deandre Ayton moves into 2nd behind Wilt Chamberlain in Lakers' quirky stat history image

Deandre Ayton hasn't been with the Los Angeles Lakers long.

But in one quirky, oddly specific stat, he now ranks second in franchise history behind just the legendary Wilt Chamberlain.

The stat: Games with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 90% from the field.

Ayton did that on Sunday, going for 20 points and 13 rebounds while making 10-of-11 shots (90.9%).

He also did it exactly one month earlier, on Nov. 14, when he went for 20 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and also made 10-of-11 shots.

He's done it twice.

Real Sports shared that only Chamberlain did it more, although there's no reported number for how many times Wilt did it.

A quick glance through Basketball Reference showed that the first time Wilt reached these thresholds for the Lakers was in 1969 when he went for 34 and 27 while shooting 14-for-14.

It appears Chamberlain did it three times, as he shot the ball a lot less in the closing stages of his career by the time he had arrived in Hollywood.

So hey, maybe Ayton can break a Wilt mark soon, which would be remarkable.

It's a bit surprising Shaquille O'Neal didn't factor in here, but shooting 90% in a game on high shot volume is incredibly difficult, even for big men taking most of their shots close to the hoop.

So it's a good way for Ayton to ingratiate himself to the Lakers' fanbase. If you don't miss any shots, you're doing pretty well.
