Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers received positive news on Tuesday.
After a disappointing 3-8 start to the season, the Dallas Mavericks fired general manager Nico Harrison, making it fair to state that Doncic and the 2020 NBA champions were on the right side of the early February trade that landed Doncic in Los Angeles and Anthony Davis in Dallas.
However, according to a viral social media post, the Lakers are prepared to hire Harrison in mid-November.
Are the Lakers hiring Nico Harrison?
No, the Lakers are not hiring Harrison. NBACentel, the X/Twitter account that claimed Harrison is joining Los Angeles’ organization, is known for regularly reporting fake news.
The reality is, the Lakers would be out of their minds to reunite Doncic with the individual who felt comfortable moving on from him following an unexpected NBA Finals appearance.
It isn’t far-fetched to suggest that Doncic and Harrison will never rekindle their relationship in this lifetime, which is why it wouldn’t be a wise idea for the two parties to be a part of the same organization moving forward.
That said, while Harrison is currently unemployed, a franchise not named the Lakers could take a chance on the 52-year-old down the line (assuming they’re firm believers in the ‘everybody deserves a second chance’ mentality).
It’ll be interesting to see if Harrison finds another general manager gig in the big leagues.
