Kawhi Leonard has missed the last four games for the Los Angeles Clippers and that streak will continue on Wednesday night. Leonard has been ruled out of L.A.’s game against the Denver Nuggets as he continues to recover from an ankle injury. This is obviously rough news for the Clippers, who have lost five straight games, including all four of the games Leonard has missed.
Late last week Clippers coach Ty Lue revealed that Leonard would be sidelined for a few games, but he stressed that the injury wasn’t necessarily serious.
“He’s gonna miss the next few games, but nothing serious, and we’ll just evaluate it from there,” Lue said at the time.
This was obviously a pretty vague update from Lue, but that’s what we’ve come to expect when it comes to Leonard, who isn’t a stranger when it comes to spending time on the sideline. Leonard was limited to just 37 games last season, and has appeared in 60-plus games in a season just once since joining the Clippers in 2019.
The fact that the injury isn’t considered serious is obviously good news. Now the Clippers just have to hope that their best player can get back out on the court in short order. On the season, Leonard is leading the Clippers in points (24.3) and steals (2.5) per game on the season.
In addition to Leonard, the Clippers will also be without Bradley Beal for the game against the Nuggets – and for the rest of the season. It was announced today that Beal will undergo season-ending surgery to address a fracture in his hip. Beal signed a two-year deal with the Clippers over the summer.
