Clippers' easy path to get younger is to sign 23.8 PPG free agent image

The Los Angeles Clippers are loaded with aging players.

They do have one easy way to get younger, and it wouldn't require a lot of searching.

Right now, Patrick Baldwin Jr. Is playing in the G League for the San Diego Clippers. He's averaging 23.8 points per game.

The former first-round pick could be signed as an NBA free agent by the Clippers, and they should have plenty of information on him while he plays for their affiliate in the minor league.

Bleacher Report recently ranked the NBA's available free agents, and they ranked Baldwin No. 4 on the board.

"Turning 23 in November, Baldwin is a 6'9" forward who needs legitimate minutes to develop," B/R writes. "Drafted by the Golden State Warriors in 2022 (No. 28), he got more of an opportunity the following year in Washington with the Wizards. On low volume, he's shot 37.3 percent from three-point range, but he may need to show out for the San Diego Clippers in the G League to get another call-up. Through five games with the Clippers, Baldwin is averaging a steady 23.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals a game, shooting 36.4 percent from deep."

The problem with Baldwin is that many view him as a more developmental piece. That was true even when he was drafted.

But at some point, the only way he can really make it at the NBA level is to be given a chance.

He'd certainly have a lot of experienced NBA talents to learn from if he ended up with the Clippers.

This is just a concept that makes sense given the connection to the G League club. Baldwin may be earning himself another chance.
