The Houston Rockets went after Dorian Finney-Smith as the type of player who can impact winning.
They just haven't gotten to see what their new acquisition can do yet.
Two games into the season, DFS has yet to suit up for the Rockets.
His absence isn't hugely missed yet, in part because Houston hasn't seen what he can do on the court yet. But it's also in part because the Rockets have quite the crowded wing rotation.
Whenever Finney-Smith becomes available, he'll have some work to do to break into the lineup.

Why isn't Dorian Finney-Smith playing for Rockets?
Dorian Finney-Smith isn't playing because he's injured.
Finney-Smith is recovering from offseason ankle surgery. It was expected all along that he'd miss the start of the season.
When head coach Ime Udoka was asked earlier this month about how long Finney-Smith might be out, Udoka said he didn't know.

Finney-Smith ended last season with the Los Angeles Lakers. This offseason, he signed a four-year, $53 million deal with the Rockets in free agency.
Last season, DFS averaged 7.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He's regarded as a solid 3-point shooter and defender. He has also played for the Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets in his career before the Lakers stint and the Rockets signing.
