Warriors' Stephen Curry moves within striking distance of a Michael Jordan NBA record image

Stephen Curry did what he does, and it was enough to push the Golden State Warriors to 2-0.

His biggest moment of the night came at the end of regulation, after an unbelievable hot Aaron Gordon gave the Denver Nuggets a lead with a 3-pointer. At the other end, Curry let it fly from 34 feet to tie the game, and of course he made it.

In OT, the Warriors prevailed.

Curry had a huge game:

  • 42 points
  • 14-25 FG
  • 6-12 3FG
  • 8-8 F%
  • 6 rebounds
  • 7 assists
  • 3 steals
  • 1 block

A line like that will usually get it done, and it's just one more time Steph has continued to dazzle even as he becomes one of the oldest players in the NBA.

In fact, he has a chance at breaking a Michael Jordan record this season.

MJ holds the NBA record for 40-point games after turning 30 years old, with 44, according to Polymarket Hoops.

Curry now has 42 such games. Considering he doesn't really look like slowing down, it wouldn't be a shock for him to break this Jordan mark later in the season.

The Warriors have a deep, talented roster this season that can win basketball games in a variety of ways. But at the end of the day, this is still Curry's team, and when he's cooking like he was on Thursday night, they'll be very tough to beat.
