The Golden State Warriors continue to pop up in trade rumors as they search for ways to extend their championship window, even if it’s for another year.
Reports indicated last year that the Warriors had interest in Lauri Markkanen, but Draymond Green didn’t want them to move on from all their assets.
Perhaps a smaller deal for Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. Could be one that makes sense, as he’s reportedly available.
Zach Bachar of Bleacher Report, citing NBA insider Jake Fischer, adds that Golden State has interest.
“According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls are all potential landing spots for Porter on the trade market,” Bachar noted.
Porter would give them a legitimate shooter who can help ease the load in the regular season off Stephen Curry and others, something Golden State has needed for a good bit now, unlike the old days.
When healthy, Porter and Curry together would be a nightmare for defenses if they’re knocking down shots.
While there’s risk in any deal, if it doesn’t cost a ton, it’s one that would help.
Golden State is running out of ideal options. The Warriors aren’t rebuilding, but they’re getting old and need to win now. A swing on someone like Porter would be a move to go all-in right now and try to win another ring with Curry, Green, and others.
The Nets might want Jonathan Kuminga and more back, which could be a nice move in the long-run.
