On Thursday, the Golden State Warriors’ aggressive pursuit of Milwaukee Bucks star appeared to take a significant turn for the worse.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks reported that there’s no guarantee the Bucks will move the two-time MVP before the Feb. 5 trade deadline, as waiting until the offseason could be an ideal scenario for the franchise.

Without Antetokounmpo in the fold for the rest of the 2025-26 season, the Warriors’ championship aspirations would be all but finished. However, a new trade report centered on the NBA’s hottest commodity is the best possible news for the Dubs.

"If there is a deal that's going to be done before the deadline, in my belief, Golden State is the team to make that deal," ESPN’s Brian Windhorst stated.

"Because the other teams have to get third and fourth teams involved, and that is why Golden State is going to probably be the most aggressive between now and Thursday. Their best position is doing the deal before next Thursday."

Hope is all the Warriors need as they approach the final leg of this year’s trade season. Although the seven-time NBA champions still have a ways to go, it’s encouraging that a respected NBA Insider like Antetokounmpo believes they likely have the best chance of securing the ex-NBA Finals MVP's services.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens between now and next Thursday.
