The Golden State Warriors have been quiet, activity-wise, as of late.

However, the franchise’s G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, recently completed a trade that could help Golden State in the foreseeable future.

For clarity, Santa Cruz acquired a 6-foot-10 former Philadelphia 76ers center on Saturday.

“The Santa Cruz Warriors, the NBA G League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors, have acquired center Charles Bassey and a second-round pick in the 2026 NBA G League Draft from the Delaware Blue Coats,” Santa Cruz stated.

“In exchange, the Warriors have traded the returning player rights to forward Jackson Rowe, a first-round pick in the 2026 NBA G League Draft, and a first-round pick in the 2027 NBA G League Draft to the Blue Coats. In a related move, the Warriors waived forward Riley Grigsby.”

While Bassey is preparing to spend the remainder of the 2025-26 season in the NBA’s minor league, he’s no stranger to NBA action.

The 76ers selected Bassey with the No. 53 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, and the Western Kentucky product competed in 23 games with the franchise as a rookie (he averaged 3.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 7.3 minutes).

After getting waived by Philadelphia following his rookie campaign, Bassey signed a two-way deal with the San Antonio Spurs

The 25-year-old appeared in 90 games with the Spurs from 2022-25, averaging 4.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks per game during his final season with the organization.

Bassey, a low-post bruiser with solid footwork, could soon play his way into a two-way or standard contract with the Dubs and help bolster the franchise’s frontcourt.
