The Golden State Warriors will look to avoid losing a third consecutive game when they take on the Cavaliers in Cleveland on Saturday night.
The game will be a rematch of the 2015 NBA Finals (and the '16, '17 and '18 Finals), but the cast of characters is different. LeBron James is no longer in Cleveland, and while the Warriors still have Steph Curry, he won't be playing against the Cavaliers this time around.
Steph Curry ruled out vs. Cavaliers due to quad injury
Curry has been officially ruled out of the game as he continues to recover from a quad injury that he suffered last month. This status isn't a surprise, as the star guard didn't travel with the team on its current three game road trip. He missed Golden State's 99-98 loss to the 76ers in Philadelphia on Thursday night, and he'll also miss the game against the Bulls in Chicago on Sunday night.
The Warriors have a long layoff after the game in Chicago, as they don't play again until Friday night when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves. There's some hope that Curry will be good to go for that game.
Curry is in the midst of another stellar season for Golden State. He's averaging 27.9 points, 4.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per performance. Not bad for a guy who will turn 38 before the season ends.
Despite Curry's productive play, the Warriors have still struggled they sit at just 11-12 heading into the game against the Cavs, who are 14-10. Both teams are eighth in the standings in their respective conferences.
In addition to Curry, veteran forward Al Horford has also been ruled out for the game in Cleveland due to right sciatica nerve irritation.
