Steph Curry injury update: Warriors get great news regarding star guard image

This is exactly what Golden State Warriors fans have been waiting to hear.

After an extended stay on the sideline due to a quad injury, star guard Steph Curry is ready to return to action. Curry is expected to play when the Warriors host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night.

"It's looking good," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Curry's return, via ESPN.

Curry has missed Golden State's last five games after suffering the injury in a game against the Houston Rockets on Nov. 26. The Warriors went 3-2 in those games, and they currently sit eighth in the Western Conference standings with a record of 13-12. Credit to the rest of the roster for keeping the team afloat in Curry's absence.

Curry's return should help Golden State's hopes of climbing up the standings in the West. The two-time MVP is in the midst of another stellar season for the Warriors. He's averaging 27.9 points, 4.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per performance while shooting 47 percent from the floor and 39 percent from long range.

The game against the Timberwolves on Friday night will be a rematch of the Western Conference semifinals from last season. Minnesota bested Golden State 4-1 in that series to move on to the conference finals. It will be the first of three meetings between the two teams on the season. They'll meet two more times in late January.  Both of those games will take place in Minnesota.
