Stephen Curry is entering Year 17 of his Hall of Fame career with the Golden State Warriors, aiming for his fifth championship, though there’s some debate over where he ranks among the league’s best.
Curry took a slight step back in the 2024-25 campaign, but he has remained a superstar in the twilight of his career. The 37-year-old averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals while shooting 39.7 percent from three-point range across 32.2 minutes per game in 70 regular-season appearances last year.
Golden State is still a playoff-caliber team and will continue its attempt to maximize Curry’s remaining years in 2025-26. Following their Western Conference semifinals loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the star point guard and Jimmy Butler will aim higher entering their first full season together.

League insiders weigh in on Steph Curry’s ranking
ESPN insiders recently released their top-10 NBA player rankings, which sparked conversation over legends like Curry, LeBron James and Kevin Durant. ESPN’s Tim Bontemps reached out to league insiders to get their scoop, and all agreed the trio remains in the top 10.
“They should be there,” a Western Conference assistant coach said. “They’re just not top-five guys anymore.”
Curry came in at No. 7 in ESPN’s ranking, with James and Durant immediately behind. An NBA executive acknowledged the trio is slowly sliding down the rankings but would still place them in the top 10.
“They’re moving down for sure, but they should still be there,” an East executive said.
Curry will look to prove those league insiders right and lead the Warriors to another title. Still, the clock is seemingly ticking on his playing career.
While Curry has appeared in at least 70 regular-season games over the past two years, he played fewer than 65 in the previous four. Injuries are certainly a concern at this stage of his career, but there’s little reason to doubt he remains a top-10 talent when healthy.
