The Golden State Warriors can’t seem to catch a break.
With Jonathan Kuminga sidelined by a knee injury and Al Horford, a player the Warriors signed in the offseason, making them appear foolish for selecting him over Kevon Looney for the center role, it seems everything is going awry for Steve Kerr's team.
As the Warriors' Wednesday night game against the Houston Rockets neared its conclusion, the situation worsened for the team when Stephen Curry sustained a quad injury late in the matchup.
On Thursday, ESPN’s Shams Charania provided the public with a recovery timeline for the 37-year-old superstar.
Stephen Curry's return timeline remains uncertain.
Charania mentioned that Curry won't be able to play right away after his setback, but he emphasized that the four-time NBA champion was fortunate to only be sidelined for a short time.
“The Golden State Warriors anticipate Stephen Curry will miss around a week or a little more with a quad contusion suffered Wednesday night,” Charania stated on X/Twitter. “He's believed to have avoided any serious issue. Return will depend on how quad responds to treatment.”
Despite a subpar performance against the Rockets on Wednesday, where he scored 14 points on 30.8% from the field and 22.8% from beyond the arc, the Davidson alum has been the team's go-to offensive player this season.
Curry is averaging 27.9 points per game while connecting on 47.1% of his field goals and 39.1% of his triples.
Fortunately, it appears Curry will be able to extend his strong beginning to the season sooner than many might have anticipated.
