Former Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson didn’t depart the franchise on a positive note.

Thompson, who won four championships in the Bay and earned a reputation for being a knockdown three-point shooter who utilizes multiple dribbles, failed to score a point against the Sacramento Kings (0-10 field goal shooting and 0-6 three-point shooting) in his final game in a Warriors uniform before getting traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2023.

Thompson has shown signs of being washed up as a Maverick, regressing as a perimeter shooter, and scoring at a pedestrian level (he’s averaging 10.9 points per game while connecting on 36.8% of his field goals and 34.6% of his three-pointers).

However, Stephen Curry’s former Warriors splash brother did etch his name into the history books after a recent standout performance.

“Klay Thompson has the most games in NBA history with 20+ points & two or fewer free throws attempted,” Real Sports pointed out on X/Twitter after Thompson’s 23-point performance against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

While Thompson’s best days in the big leagues are behind him, he’s far from the ‘bum’ that Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant suggested he is in Year 15.

Will the dynamic, prime Warriors version of Thompson ever make another appearance? It’s highly unlikely, but when the Washington State product finds his groove from deep and is playing with confidence, he’s proven he can still have his share of standout games.
