Crazy Warriors trade idea brings back former fan favorite for aging franchise legend image

The Golden State Warriors are at an interesting crossroads this NBA offseason. They have aging superstars like Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. However, they desperately need some youth to carry a heavy regular-season load in order to give those two the most rest possible before entering the playoffs. That’s why Warriors trade rumors have been loud this offseason. A Warriors trade that brings them some more youth could be the key to preserving their stars for a deep playoff run.

One bold yet possible route is trading away their beloved (yet controversial) franchise star, Draymond Green.

Green has shown a slight decline over the last few seasons, and although he is a key cog in the Warriors' defense, he could still have some trade value around the league.

A few seasons ago, Draymond’s punch of Jordan Poole before the Warriors' 2022-23 season changed everything. The Warriors went from being the champions at the top of the world to a drama-filled locker room that looked like it had lost its chemistry.

The Warriors were forced to trade Poole, losing a budding star who could have helped bridge the gap between their aging stars and the future.

We propose a bold Warriors trade idea that could bring Poole back to Golden State, while shipping out the aging Green.

The trade looks like this:

Warriors receive: Jordan Poole and Bub Carrington

Washington Wizards receive: Draymond Green, Buddy Hield, and potentially some draft capital

For the Warriors, they get a known 20-point-a-game scorer that can shoulder a huge offensive load during the regular season. They also pick up another young prospect with offensive and defensive upside to march them into the future.

Losing Green will hurt the defense a lot, but they may be getting ahead of his decline with this trade. This would also allow Jonathan Kuminga to slide into the starting power forward position, giving the Warriors a much younger and more athletic frontcourt.

If the Wizards are looking for some veteran leadership and believe that Poole is more of a “good stats, bad team” guy, this could be a move worth making.
