The Golden State Warriors could use all the help they can get right now.

While the seven-time NBA champions have won their last two games to improve to 13-12 on the year, their ceiling is low and will remain so unless they commit to being active in the trade market.

Although former Warriors superstar Klay Thompson isn’t as productive as he once was, a new bombshell report involving the four-time NBA champion is good news for Stephen Curry and the Dubs.

“The Mavericks are open to exploring the trade markets for Davis, center Daniel Gafford, and guards Klay Thompson and D'Angelo Russell,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Tuesday.

There’s no question that Golden State has a massive Buddy Hield problem in early December. The Oklahoma product was acquired by the Dubs in 2024 via a massive multi-team trade that sent Thompson to the Warriors and had relatively high expectations.

Unfortunately, Hield has appeared to lose his confidence and touch from long range, as he’s currently 30.5% from three this season in 25 contests.

Thompson, on the other hand, is only connecting on 35.4% of his triples this season, but bringing him back to the Bay could ignite a fire under the Washington product and help the organization remove Hield from the equation for good.

After all, Thompson was at his best as a three-point shooter when Curry was by his side nightly, making a potential reunion worth considering before the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

The 35-year-old was a 40% or better perimeter shooter during his first eight seasons with the Warriors, helping the franchise capture four championships and form one of the most daunting dynasties the NBA has ever seen.

Simply put, Charania’s new report opens the door for a trade that could wind up paying dividends for the franchise in the foreseeable future.
