The Pistons currently sit a few games ahead of the Celtics as the #1 seed in the East, but the trade rumors surrounding the team continue.

There's speculation that the team could pursue a wing like Michael Porter Jr., but recent reports suggest they might be targeting an even more talented and versatile player.

What player are the Pistons interested in ahead of the trade deadline?

NBA insider Michael Scotto reported that the Pistons were among two teams that have recently shown interest in Jaren Jackson Jr. (The other is the Celtics).

It's not a certainty that Jackson Jr. Will become available, but reports suggest the Grizzlies' stance on him could be entirely based on the future of Ja Morant.

The Pistons have a lot of young players and assets that would likely be appealing to Memphis, in a time when Memphis seems to be trending in the direction of a youth movement.

If Jackson Jr. Became available, the Grizzlies could get a pretty decent haul for him, so they could get competitive offers from several teams, including Detroit.

The Pistons are already in a great position in the standings and as a franchise overall, but if they could make a deal work to bring in Jackson Jr., it could elevate them to become a contender that teams take more seriously.

JJJ is averaging 18.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks this season.
