Cade Cunningham may not be the MVP frontrunner in late-December, but there’s no question he’s in the thick of the riveting race.

Cunningham has been torching opponents regularly thanks to his commitment to embracing contact on drives, polished low-post game, and natural ability to shine when games get tight.

In the Oklahoma product’s most recent outing, he recorded 27 points and 11 assists in a dominant 128-106 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers

Following Cunningham’s stellar outing, the X/Twitter account ‘Real Sports’ revealed that the former first-round pick now leads all NBA point guards in an impressive stat.

“Cade Cunningham leads all point guards this season in games with 25+ points & 10+ assists,” the stats-based account stated.

Cunningham’s rise to superstardom has played an integral role in Detroit's vast improvement as a team. Detroit, which nearly defeated the New York Knicks in the first round of last year’s playoffs, boasts a 25-8 record and occupies the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Of course, role players such as Tobias Harris, Jalen Duren, Duncan Robinson, and Ausar Thompson deserve their fair share of credit for the Pistons’ hot start to the 2025-26 season.

That said, Detroit wouldn’t be as good as it is without Cunningham playing at an absurdly high level, which proves that the 24-year-old is the clear MVP of the surging Pistons.
