Former Detroit Pistons guard Killian Hayes is working on getting back on the NBA’s radar.

The young veteran guard didn’t go too far to showcase his talent. Currently, Hayes is in the NBA G League, competing for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ affiliate, the Cleveland Charge.

Recently, Hayes had a string of matchups, which will sit well on his current resume.

Via @NBAPR: Cleveland Charge guard Killian Hayes has been named the NBA G League Player of the Week.

Over the past four games for the Charge, Hayes has averaged 26.3 points per game. He averaged nearly a double-double, dishing out 9.3 assists per game.

During the Charge’s Tip-Off Tournament run, Hayes appeared in 10 games. Seeing the court for 26.6 minutes per game, Hayes shot 46 percent from the field, producing 22.1 points per game. He also averaged 6.8 assists and 3.0 rebounds.

The first week of the regular season is off on the right foot for Hayes. He’s knocking down his field goals with efficiency (50 percent) and hitting on 35 percent of his threes (taking 8.5 attempts per game).

Entering the NBA, Hayes was coming from an overseas club. He was garnering attention as a top-10 prospect. The Pistons’ previous front office regime took a massive gamble on Hayes, selecting him seventh overall. In hindsight, the move was a mistake.

During his four-year run with Detroit, Hayes appeared in 210 games, picking up 145 starts. He struggled with his shooting, making just 38 percent of his field goals and shooting 27 percent from three.

Considering Hayes averaged 8.1 points, he was widely viewed as a draft bust. Last season, the Brooklyn Nets brought him up for six games. During that time, Hayes’ shooting looked better as he hit on 38 percent of his threes, producing 9.0 points per game.

So far, Hayes hasn’t garnered any traction at the main level this season, but his G League run in Cleveland has been off to a positive start.
