The Denver Nuggets have a major injury concern with superstar center Nikola Jokic after he left Monday's loss to the Miami Heat early with an ankle issue.
Jokic got stepped on towards the end of the first half and went down. He went to the locker room and never returned. Denver fell to Miami on the road by a score of 147-123.
After Monday night's contest, Nuggets head coach David Adelman spoke to the media regarding Jokic's status. Though he didn't give an update on the three-time league MVP's status, Adelman didn't seem very optimistic about Jokic's injury.
"Obviously, immediately he knew something was wrong… We’ll find out more tomorrow," Adelman said. "It’s unfortunate. Hoping for the best."
Jokic is one of the most dominant players of his generation, and losing him for an extended period of time would be backbreaking for the Nuggets. The 2023 Finals MVP is averaging a near 30-point triple-double this season on 60% shooting from the field and 44% from three.
We'll see if Jokic ends up missing time with his ankle injury. Adelman didn't sound very confident that the injury isn't serious, but we'll see.
