Nikola Jokic is a player the Denver Nuggets can’t afford to lose for an extended period.
The three-time MVP is the heart and soul of the Nuggets’ organization, as he’s an offensive cheat code who dominates opponents while appearing to give 50% effort.
In the first half of the Nuggets’ Monday night contest vs. The Miami Heat, Jokic suffered an unfortunate lower-body injury that didn’t look good in any way, shape, or form.
ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel broke down the play that resulted in the injury before halftime.
“Another injury for the Nuggets, this time to 3-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who seemed to hyperextend his knee,” Siegel stated. “Jokic limped off the court and went to Denver’s locker room.”
“Spencer Jones appeared to step back onto Jokic’s foot, causing his left knee to hyperextend backwards. Jokic attempted to put weight on his leg but had to be helped off the court. Major concerns in Denver.”
On the same social media platform, Jokic received a massive injury update from a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
“Left Knee Hyperextension,” Jeff Mueller said. “Concern for ACL injury but often times in the NBA these hyperextensions wind up just being a sprain + bone bruise. Hopefully he avoided worst case scenario.”
Hopefully, Mueller’s assessment is spot-on, and Jokic avoided a season- and career-altering setback.
Jokic’s official status won’t be revealed until the NBA champion center receives his MRI results.
