Aaron Gordon has some high expectations for the Denver Nuggets this season.
During a recent appearance on The Old Man and the Three podcast, Gordon told teammate Cam Johnson that he expects the Nuggets to win the NBA title this season.
“At the end of the day, I believe, we’re going to be the ones that walk off with a win,” Gordon said. “We’ll be the last team to win. Everyone else is going to hold an L at the end of the season. Except for us. We’re going to be the ones to win at the end of the season.”

A player saying that he thinks his team will win the championship is far from breaking news, but it’s still noteworthy, nonetheless. The defending-champion Oklahoma City Thunder, who currently have the best record in the league at 20-1, will probably have something to say about Gordon’s prediction. Other contending teams like the Lakers, Rockets, Pistons and Knicks will also likely take umbrage with Gordon's claim.
But, it’s not like it’s a player on the Pelicans saying this. The Nuggets are a very good team with championship experience after winning the whole thing in 2023 and arguably the best player in the entire league in Nikola Jokic.
So, while it might be surprising if the Nuggets won this year since the Thunder are the prohibitive favorites, it wouldn’t be shocking. Denver currently sits in the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference with a record of 14-6.
Playing against the Thunder will be a good barometer for Denver's championship aspirations. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a while to see that. The two teams don't face each other until February.
