Things are so bad for Mavs' Klay Thompson that he shot the ball backwards image

Klay Thompson's Wednesday night didn't get off to an ideal start.

The Dallas Mavericks decided to bring him off the bench rather than start him, instead putting D'Angelo Russell into the starting five to get a point guard presence in there.

It got worse for Klay.

Thompson, one of the best shooters to ever step foot on a basketball court, had never done something quite like this.

On a 3-point attempt, he lost the ball out of his hands. It went backwards.

Does that even go down in the stats as a miss? Or is it just a turnover?

Either way, brutal.

This season has been so unkind to Thompson. He entered Wednesday night shooting a horrific 26.2% from 3-point range.

If he doesn't turn that around, he won't be regaining his starting place.

The Mavs have a bright present and a bright future. Thompson might soon cease to be a part of it.
