D’Angelo Russell gets criticized for ball-hog moment vs. Timberwolves image

Jason Kidd's Dallas Mavericks fell to 4-11 after putting on a 120-96 flop show, summing up the team's offensive collapse perfectly.

Then, combo guard D’Angelo Russell's questionable in-game decision just added insult to the injury. He finished with just eight points and four assists, leaving fans scratching their heads due to his limited movement.

Fans roast D'Angelo Russell's decision-making

Russell has since gone viral online for all the wrong reasons. The Mavs’ guard dribbled the ball for 21 seconds before passing to teammate Naji Marshall with just three seconds left on the shot clock in Dallas' blowout loss. Marshall had no choice but to launch a prayer from deep that never stood a chance.

The 24 seconds of footage shared by "Hater report" X account spread like wildfire across social media. They captioned the clip, penning, "Nah man, D'Angelo Russell really dribbled the ball for 21 seconds and passed somebody a grenade with 3 seconds left on the shot clock."

NBA fans didn't waste time to torch Russell's ball-hogging possession on social media.

"Welcome to the DLo experience. S----- he's on my team," one frustrated fan wrote.

Another asked, "This is how you rack up assists?"

"Sad stuff," a third one claimed bluntly.

One Mavs supporter added, "Nico not liking Luka's play, but signing DLo is ridiculous."

The 29-year-old brought the ball up and tried to run some plays, but nothing really worked in his favor. He ultimately left the court with a shooting record of 4-of-11 from the field. To control them, Timberloves didn’t need to work hard. They simply switched defenders and stayed in position.

Russell's 38% shooting has become a serious concern for Mavs fans as the team continues to struggle. The former All-Star signed $13 million deal with Mavs this offseason. Through 15 games, moments like Monday night are raising eyebrows about whether the veteran point guard fits what the Mavs need.
