It doesn’t sound like Anthony Davis will be back out on the court for the Dallas Mavericks any time soon.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Davis is expected to undergo surgery to repair ligament damage in his left hand and miss several months.

Anthony Davis expected to miss several months due to hand surgery

Davis has missed the past two games for Dallas after initially suffering the injury during the team’s recent 116-114 loss to the Utah Jazz.

On the season, Davis has appeared in just 20 games for Dallas and posted averages of 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.1 steals per performance.

Davis has been consistently mentioned in trade rumors, and hand surgery might not stall talks. According to Charania, the Mavs are having renewed trade talks with multiple teams. If traded to a contender, Davis could potentially return for postseason play.

Charania specifically mentioned the Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks as two teams with previous interest in Davis.

If Davis doesn't get traded, we've likely seen the last of him this season as the Mavericks are well outside of the playoff picture in the Western Conference.
