The Cleveland Cavaliers will look to avoid losing their fourth contest of the year on Wednesday night when they face the Philadelphia 76ers

To this point, the Cavaliers have been led by 29-year-old star Donovan Mitchell, who’s averaging 29.5 points and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 55.0% from the field and 43.6% from three-point land.

Darius Garland has been Mitchell’s backcourt partner in crime for the past couple of seasons, but has missed the start of the year due to a nagging toe injury.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Garland has been progressing nicely since undergoing toe surgery and is near a return to the court.

“Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star Darius Garland will make his season debut as soon as Wednesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers,” Shams reported Tuesday. “Garland, who underwent offseason surgery to repair a big toe, will be upgraded on Cavs' injury report as he is set to return.”

While Garland is officially listed as questionable on Cleveland’s injury report, Charania’s report indicates that there’s a good chance the Vanderbilt product could rejoin Mitchell and the Cavaliers for regular-season game No. 8.

Even if the Cavaliers keep Garland sidelined for an additional contest, the dynamic 6-foot-1 star guard is no longer in danger of missing significant time with the franchise.
