Chris Haynes of Amazon Prime Video and NBA TV reports that third-year Hornets forward Brandon Miller has suffered a shoulder subluxation that will keep him on the shelf for at least the next two weeks, after which he will be reassessed.
Charlotte has been trying to string together some wins in a wide-open Eastern Conference this year. Its path towards doing that just got tougher.
An encouraging season start for Brandon Miller
Miller hurt his shoulder nine minutes into the Hornets' second game of the season, a 125-121 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Oct. 25.
In his one complete game, Miller scored 25 points on 42.1 percent shooting from the floor and 70 percent shooting from the foul line, seven assists, one steal, and a block in a 136-117 season opening win against the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 22.
Led by one-time All-Star point guard LaMelo Ball, the Hornets are currently 3-4 on the year.
In six healthy bouts for the Hornets, Ball has been his typically productive self, averaging 23.3 points on a.430/.333/.815 slash line, 9.8 assists, 7.8 rebounds, 1.7 steals a night. Granted, the oft-hurt vet is already hurt, himself, having sat out Charlotte's victory against the Utah Jazz on Sunday with ankle injury.
Should Ball, Miller, forward Miles Bridges, rookie wing Kon Knueppel, new trade addition Collin Sexton stay healthy-ish this year, the Hornets may have enough talent to make another play-in tournament appearance.
