Charlotte Hornets standout rookie Kon Knueppel had done it again in the history-making department.
On Nov. 29, the ‘Real Sports’ X/Twitter account stated that Knueppel has the most three-point makes through the first 20 NBA games of their career ever (69).
On Tuesday, the 20-year-old made NBA history again, this time with Dallas Mavericks star forward Cooper Flagg.
“Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg and Hornets wing Kon Knueppel have been named the Kia NBA Western and Eastern Conference Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played in October/November,” ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reported.
“This marks the first time in NBA history that both Rookies of the Month are from the same college.”
Knueppel and Flagg were teammates at Duke for one season. Flagg was undoubtedly the more popular star, but Knueppel’s three-point shooting consistency and mid-range scoring ability made him a lottery pick alongside Flagg.
Knueppel averaged 14.4 points per game while connecting on 47.9% of his field goals and 40.6% of his triples on a Blue Devils squad that narrowly missed the national championship game.
The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native has been even better in the big leagues despite being on a Hornets squad with plenty of wing talent.
Knueppel was tremendous with the Hornets in November, averaging 19.9 points while connecting on 46.4% of his field goals and 39.1% of his three-point jumpers, earning him Eastern Conference Rookie of the Year honors.
Expect Knueppel to continue bolstering his Rookie of the Year resume in Charlotte.
