There are just two more weeks until the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 5, and one trending topic centers on Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr.
The playoffs are a far stretch for the Nets, who currently sit at 12-30, so Brooklyn has been heavily involved in trade rumors. Specifically with All-Star hopeful Michael Porter Jr.
After being traded from the Denver Nuggets to Brooklyn this offseason, Porter Jr. Has become a number-one option for a team for the first time in his career. This has made him a player who's been brought up in rumors. Let's take a look.
Report: Warriors and Lakers are out in trade involving Michael Porter Jr.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors have been teams to watch in a trade involving the Nets' forward, but these talks have slowed down.
"It no longer appears as if pursuing Porter is a path the Warriors would like to go down in the wake of Butler's injury," Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints said. "The Los Angeles Lakers possibly throwing their hat in the mix for Porter isn't a realistic possibility and something they don't have a desire to do, sources said."
Although Michael Porter Jr. Is on pace for career-highs in points (25.3), rebounds (7.4), and assists (3.2) this season, the contract that is linked to him has made teams uninterested in trading for the 27-year-old.
Porter Jr. Has two years remaining on the five-year, $179.2 million deal he signed back in 2021 with the Nuggets.
It's looking like neither team is interested in picking up the contract of Porter Jr., so a trade is looking less and less likely.
