NBA insiders expect Cam Thomas to play elsewhere in 2026 image

After stacking some wins together in the month of December behind impressive play on the defensive end, the Brooklyn Nets have fell hard once again, losing 10 of their last 12 matchups.

Although Brooklyn isn't in playoff contention either, six of those 10 losses came against non-playoff teams, including a loss to the Washington Wizards who trail the Nets in the Eastern Conference standings.

Given the team's performance all season, the Nets are likely to be active sellers at the trade deadline, dealing away veterans to contending teams.

Michael Porter Jr. Is the most notable name on the roster and he is said to be garnering plenty of interest from championship hopeful squads.

Another intriguing name on Brooklyn's roster in Cam Thomas. Despite 30 career 30-point games at the age of 24, Thomas has lost favor with the team, being relegated to a bench role since returning from injury.

Having scored over 22 points per game in the past two seasons, Thomas could be targeted by a team looking for an extra scoring punch. Not to mention, his current salary of nearly $6 million makes his contract easy to trade.

Given the recent standoff between Thomas and the Nets, NBA insiders suggest that Thomas' days with the Nets are numbered, insinuating that he won't be a member of the team next season whether he's traded at the deadline or not.

With his departure over the summer likely imminent, Brooklyn would be clever to try and extract value for him before the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
