The Boston Celtics wanted another player to come to their training camp.
They've landed on a former collegiate star for the Duke Blue Devils.
Wendell Moore Jr. has agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with the Celtics, according to multiple reports. If Moore doesn't make the roster, the Exhibit 10 contract incentivizes him to stay with the organization in the G League.
Moore split the 2024-25 season with the Pistons and Hornets.
Between the two teams, Moore averaged 4.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.6 steals per game while shooting 34.1% from 3-point range.
The two prior seasons, Moore played NBA games for the Minnesota Timberwolves.
He originally entered the league as the No. 26 overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks in 2022.
Moore was a top-25 recruit nationally when he went to Duke in the Class of 2019.
He spent three seasons with the Blue Devils, growing his role each year.
In Moore's final year on campus, he put up 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 41.3% from 3-point range.
The Celtics are looking at a bit of an odd season with Jayson Tatum dealing with his torn Achilles.
In the meantime, Boston will take talent from wherever it can be found.
Sure, Moore is a longshot to make the team.
But anytime you can bring in a talented player who spent his college career as a top recruit to Duke, it's not a bad thing to try.
