While the Boston Celtics are known for having die-hard fans, it may push some other fanbases in the wrong direction. Fans of the Celtics literally ‘bleed green’ and are known as some of the most loyal and dedicated fans in any sport.
When Bill Chisholm purchased the team for $6.1 billion from Wyc Grousbeck and his family, nobody batted an eye and trusted that Chisholm would represent Boston fandom.
So far, the Celtics have exceeded in what was considered a down year, much to the credit of Jaylen Brown stepping up in Jayson Tatum’s absence. Brown is known for showing love to the Boston fans and their love for the team. There is no question that the fans in Massachusetts love the Celtics.
Recently, on an episode of Celtics guard Derrick White’s podcast, Chisholm had some interesting words specifically about Golden State Warriors fans, and how they don’t compare to Boston fans.
“I don’t like the Warriors, but the Warriors, for people that live there, are great, and they’ve been very successful. But people go to the game, they go home, and they have their dinner, and the Warriors win, lose, that’s fine. You got other things — you go to the beach, do whatever, go up to Tahoe. The Celtics lose, and people are depressed,” Chisholm said on December 3.
Chisholm believes that Celtics fans are more dedicated because of their lack of hobbies, and that Warriors fans could easily be distracted.
Of course, he may be a little salty due to Boston losing to Golden State in the 2022 NBA Finals.
The Celtics are currently exceeding expectations, giving the fans plenty to be happy about.
