The Trae Young saga is expected to get sorted out soon, resulting in the All-Star getting traded away from the Atlanta Hawks.
While all signs are pointing to Young having a desired destination already, the ex-NBA All-Star Jeff Teague wants all parties to consider a deal between the Hawks and the Miami Heat.
Looking at the Heat’s 20-17 record, Teague believes that a little shakeup could do wonders for the team. He’s convinced that swapping out Tyler Herro for Young would be a valuable move for Miami.
“If you trade him for Trae Young, you get a way more efficient—I don’t want to say efficient because he’s not efficient right now—but you get a way more dynamic playmaker,” Teague explained.
“With Bam, you got a certified bucket, and now you got another dynamic player with Powell, Wiggins is a playmaker. They don’t have a point guard, no disrespect to Davion Mitchell, he’s playing good this year, he’s doing his thing, but there’s a difference between him and Trae Young.”
Jeff Teague thinks the Heat need to trade Tyler Herro for Trae Young

“Miami gotta chance to turn it around, the can make a splash fr. They get rid of Herro though. Tyler Herro don’t play defense either, but if you trade him for Trae Young you get a way more dynamic playmaker… pic.twitter.com/DEK6SV1Imw
Teague argues that Herro doesn’t add any defensive value to the Heat, which has always been a major concern for Young as well. However, when you pair offensive games, he believes Young’s value is clearly higher than Herro and Mitchell in the areas the Heat could improve.
Last year, Herro put together his first All-Star season. He averaged 23.9 points while shooting 37 percent from three. Young produced 24.2 points per game, while knocking down 34 percent of his threes. He also led the league in assists per game with 11.6, clearing Herro’s 5.5 per game.
Both players are having down years in their own way, with injuries affecting their availability. Teague seems to think a fresh start could be beneficial for both.
While the Heat were rumored to have interest in Young early on, they haven’t really been relevant in his market as the situation reaches a point of no return for Young in Atlanta. The latest update from ESPN’s Shams Charania suggests that the Hawks are getting a nudge from the star guard to send him to the Washington Wizards.
The situation is a work in progress, but the Hawks seem likely to get it resolved soon.
