Hawks’ Trae Young gets $229 million contract update, responds with a Michael Jordan meme image

Trae Young is eligible to secure the bag.

Whether he and the Atlanta Hawks want that to happen is much less certain.

On Sunday, Young could officially be offered a four-year, $229 million contract extension.

The star point guard spent the day finding a Michael Jordan meme to post on his Instagram Story.

Is Young laughing at the idea of sticking with Atlanta? At an amount offered by the Hawks? At the fact that he hasn't gotten an offer at all?

There's really no way to know.

Young is a bit of a polarizing player, and he's gotten his name thrown around in trade rumors through the years.

He averages 25 points and 10 assists per game during his career, incredible numbers. He doesn't always seem to impact winning in a major way, though.

Young will turn 27 years old in September, so he should still have some of his prime left. He's also listed at 6-foot-1 and 164 pounds, so it's not clear how he might age in a career being knocked around by bigger defenders.

For now, all we can do is laugh along with Young and the MJ meme until the Hawks or Young take a next step, either toward an extension or away from one.
