The Hawks haven't been the hottest team in the news recently, but they could be sooner than later.

Atlanta has the tools this summer that set them up to make some major changes to the roster, if they choose to.

What tools does Atlanta have?

Jake Fischer of the Stein Line recently outlined some key things to look out for in the NBA this offseason.

NBA writer Keith Smith highlighted one major advantage, from Fischer's piece, that the Hawks have over other teams this summer.

The Hawks have a $25 million TPE (traded player exception).

This gives the Hawks leverage in trades, financially, this summer, if they want to take on a big contract, that would presumably be a star.

Atlanta enters the offseason with one of the lowest payrolls in the league and is well under the first apron.

Between that and their TPE, their overall flexibility this summer can allow them to make a splash in a trade or free agency that many other teams aren't in a position to do themselves.
