The Washington Nationals' organization will have a lot of new faces next season.
That's because 34 players are leaving for minor league free agency.
Baseball America reported the number this week: It's the highest in MLB.
Most of these players had their contracts expire after six minor league seasons, but they can also be veterans who had signed new deals in the minor leagues and had those run out.
Baseball America shared the whole list of 34:
- Daison Acosta
- Joan Adon
- Wander Arias
- Jose Atencio
- Bryan Caceres
- Hyun-il Choi
- Greider Colina
- Bryce Conley
- Michael Cuevas
- Parker Dunshee
- Erick Mejia
- Euri Montero
- Johan Otanez
- Adrian Sampson
- Junior Santos
- Chase Solesky
- Samuel Vasquez
- Garrett Davila
- Kevin Dowdell
- Tommy Kane
- Lucas Knowles
- Jose Colmenares
- Francisco Mejia
- CJ Stubbs
- Joe Naranjo
- Juan Yepez
- JT Arruda
- Jackson Cluff
- Yoander Rivero
- Carlos De La Cruz
- Jeremy De La Rosa
- Delino Deshields Jr.
- Donta Williams
- Nick Schnell
Nick Schnell may have been the player on the list with the mots remaining promise. He's an outfielder with solid tools across the board.
Francisco Mejia was a former top catching prospect who never panned out. He'll get another contract somewhere.
Deshields has an MLB past and the pedigree of his name and some speed, but not much else.
The Nats will likely sign at least some of those pitchers back. That's a lot of depth to lose from an arms perspective.
Every MLB team has a lot of players like this who hit free agency, so there'll be lots of options for the Nationals and every other organization to sort through.
