Barry Bonds' 2004 season might be the craziest hitting season ever. The San Francisco Giants legend batted .362 and had a .620 on-base percentage. He was intentionally walked 120 times.
And on Sunday, Nationals rising superstar James Wood matched something that hadn't been done at the plate since Bonds did it in that season.
This is what happened in Wood's last four plate appearances on Sunday in Anaheim:
- Intentional walk
- Intentional walk
- Intentional walk
- Intentional walk
That came after Wood singled the other way in his first at bat.
It's quite the fascinating list of players who have ever been intentionally walked four times in the same game.
Bonds was the most recent, in 2004.
Along with Bonds and Wood on this list are Andre Dawson, Manny Ramirez, Gary Templeton and Roger Maris.

Wood is almost certainly the guy who is least known nationally at the time of his accomplishment.
But the 6-foot-7 lefty slugger is truly one of the best, most talented hitters on the planet. He'll get his notoriety soon enough.
If he keeps getting stats that haven't been done since Bonds, that'd probably raise his profile in a hurry.
