The Daylen Lile breakout continues.
The Washington Nationals' rookie outfielder homered on Friday as part of yet another great performance for him.
He's been one of the Nats' best players since making it to the majors, despite never ranking as a top-100 prospect, but this time, he's made history that is particularly eye-catching.
What Lile has now accomplished hasn't been done in Major League Baseball since the immortal Willie Mays did it in 1957.
The feat: Seven triples and five home runs in the same month.

MLB Network's Sarah Langs shared the list of others to have done this:
- 2025 Sept Daylen Lile
- 1957 June Willie Mays
- 1931 July Al Simmons
- 1930 June Freddy Leach
- 1929 July Babe Herman
- 1925 May Ty Cobb
- 1921 May Ty Cobb
- 1914 May Ed Lennox
- 1911 July Frank Schulte
This list really does emphasize how triples have become a lost part of the game.
Lile has hit triples at a rate of no one in baseball this season, though.
And now to join Mays? It doesn't get any better than that.
The Nationals are hoping their future is bright, and to have uncovered Liles' talents is a huge deal in trying to make the 2026 season better than this one.
