Denzel Clarke nearly didn't make it to his homecoming.
The Toronto native was in Triple A a week ago. But then the Athletics called him up to the majors.
And fittingly, his first weekend road trip in MLB took him to Rogers Centre and a series against the Blue Jays.
He grabbed all of baseball's attention on Friday night.
Alejandro Kirk lofted a fly ball deep to center. The 25-year old Canadian ranged back, leaped, stuck a foot in the wall and extended further.
Somehow, against all odds, Clarke robbed the homer.

Clarke told reporters before Thursday's series opener that he went to Blue Jays games growing up and that he expected between 150-200 friends and family members to watch him in person over the course of the four-game series.
It's likely there were many there on Friday night. They would've been the only Canadians in the crowd cheering for a Blue Jays player being robbed of a home run.
It was one of their own, Clarke, who made one of the plays of the season back in his hometown.
