There might be no team in the 2025-2026 MLB offseason that is as active as the Toronto Blue Jays. After coming up just short in the World Series, Toronto is eyeing a ton of potential additions this offseason.
Bo Bichette is a priority re-signing candidate, but the Blue Jays are also expected to be active in the top free agent markets this winter. Kyle Tucker, Kyle Schwarber, and potentially Cody Bellinger are all options the Blue Jays are going after.
ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan further indicated the Blue Jays' aggressive nature this offseason, sharing an exciting prediction from MLB executives between the Blue Jays and Tucker.
Blue Jays strongly linked to Kyle Tucker by MLB execs
"The Blue Jays, coming off their first World Series berth in more than three decades, have no plans to slow down." Passan writes. "They are considered the favorite by other executives to land Tucker."
Toronto having a strong interest in Tucker isn't a surprise, but this report from Passan, that MLB executives believe they are the favorite for Tucker, is a very exciting one.
Tucker is a 28-year-old outfielder coming off a solid year for the Chicago Cubs. In 136 games played, he had 133 hits, 91 runs scored, 25 doubles, four triples, 22 home runs, 73 RBIs, 25 stolen bases, 87 walks, and only 88 strikeouts.
As a left-handed slugger, he would be a great complement to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. In the lineup. While Schwarber had 56 home runs and 132 RBIs, he's strictly a designated hitter.
Tucker can play in the outfield and is a Gold Glove-caliber defender. The four-time All-Star won't be cheap, as his deal is likely to reach around $400 million total.
The Blue Jays are ready to invest in this team, and Tucker is the best investment the Blue Jays can make this winter. With MLB executives believing the Blue Jays are the favorites to land Tucker, there's plenty of reason to be excited about this offseason in Toronto.
