Latest Cubs report on Kyle Tucker is perfect for Blue Jays image

Reports have indicated that the Toronto Blue Jays could be one of the top landing spots for Kyle Tucker. Tucker, undoubtedly the best free agent on the market this offseason, should be in for a massive payday.

It remains uncertain if he can reach $400 million, but it wouldn't be surprising with some of the other contracts around Major League Baseball.

If the Blue Jays want to land him, they'll have to hope that other teams around the league aren't willing to pay him or feel confident in what they have.

After making the World Series and seemingly being one of the better teams in the American League again heading into next season, the Blue Jays have all the reasons in the world to go after a player of his caliber.

Robert Murray of FanSided revealed some new information on what could happen. He stated that the Cubs are in need of starting pitching, which could help Toronto and others.

“The Cubs need pitching, especially with Shota Imanaga, Brad Keller and Michael Soroka currently free agents,” he wrote.

Murray also added that he asked Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer if he wanted to keep Tucker around, and he stated that he plans to speak with his agent, Casey Close of Excel.

“He’s a great player, we had a really good experience with him, and we’ll be talking to his agent Casey Close.”

Where will Tucker land?

Despite the conversation that will likely be had and perhaps has already been had, Murray wrote that he doesn't think Tucker will be in their plans. If that ends up being the case, that's one less team the Blue Jays would have to worry about.

“What I believe: They need pitching, not another huge bat. This is an unlikely reunion,” he added.
