Blue Jays receive massive updates regarding Kyle Tucker, Bo Bichette after Kazuma Okamoto signing image

The Toronto Blue Jays have proved they are all in on contending next season with their latest addition, signing Kazuma Okamoto to a four-year, $60 million deal. With this signing, the Jays also receive some positive and negative news.

Fansided’s Chris Landers provides both, with the good news being the Jays aren’t done and will make one more splash. The bad news is it’s probably one or the other between Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette, with Tucker having the advantage.

“As painful as it may be for Blue Jays fans who have grown attached to one of their homegrown stars, from here it sure looks like Toronto is gearing up for Tucker as its last major move of the offseason…There's been so much smoke around their pursuit of Tucker, and he's such an obvious fit, that adding another infielder seems like a sign. All of which figures to drive Bichette out of Toronto — and into the arms of another contender who could really use him,” Landers wrote.

However, Landers also noted that a Bichette re-sign is still not out of the picture, especially if the Jays whiff on Tucker.

Which isn't to say that a reunion is already dead. It's entirely possible that another Tucker suitor gets desperate, and the Jays pivot back to Bichette after all. While Okamoto was mostly an infielder in Japan, several MLB teams have expressed interest in trying him out in left field, so it's not out of the question that Toronto could slot Bichette back in at short (or third, given his declining defense) and put Okamoto into an outfield platoon with Barger,” Landers stated.

Hopefully, the Jays could find some way to land both, but landing either would be amazing for Toronto.
